Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based in Washington D.C. After growing up living in New York City, Mitchell earned a BA in English literature from The University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career as a radio and TV reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located situated in Washington DC. A few years later, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign correspondent in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a guest on the TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist and host. She served on a panel for the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards for her journalism achievements, such as her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell was a reporter at for the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy issues, such as the arms control, the budget tax as well as the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to numerous summits in the company of President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
